I am exhibiting a video sculpture and a new experimental, animated film at L’Oeil de Poisson in Quebec City from Nov. 1 – Dec. 1, 2013.
The video sculpture, “Correspondence,” is from a series of pieces about using creativity to survive physical confinement. It is loosely based on the lives of Nelson Mandela and AP Reporter and hostage, Terry Anderson, who used writing as an escape from their imprisonment.
“Available Light” is a somber, animated, experimental film about surviving extreme isolation and physical limitations as a result of traumatic injury. In this movie, I am creating a desolate and disorienting dreamscape as a metaphor for the deep netherworld she was thrust into when I broke my back in a sledding mishap in 2011.
