Two Chairs

Two Chairs: The Decay of Trust

  • Cinema Machines
  • Kinetic sculpture

Two identical children's poddy training chairs are positioned opposite a wall. Each chair projects a sequence of texts: one chair projects "truth," "trust," "tooth," the other "lies," "lose," "less," "like." On the wall, a slippery combination of texts creates a commentary for the training chairs: "lose trust," "like lies," "truth like," "lose tooth," etc. which references some of the other topics learned during childhood discipline and learning.

Mixed media: two wooden training chairs, wood, record player parts, vinyl records, light bulbs, lenses, film, mirrors, velvet, 21 x 24 x 39 inches.
