In the process of researching how to photograph this particular portrait, I learned about a gorgeous, little known photography book about Frida Kahlo’s bathroom: “El Baño De Frida” by Graciela Iturbide. Gorgeous black and white prints of an intimate space. The photographs reveal the various back braces and devices she wore over the years, as well as the chemicals/drugs that were part of her daily life (box of Demerol…).
El Baño De Frida” by Graciela Iturbide is at Photo Eye Bookstore. It looks incredible. I need to buy it.
