Remains

A small memorial piece is placed on a table: an empty picture frame which contains the ghosted images of a hand keeping score with tick marks is juxtaposed with two speakers. As an AIDS memorial piece, this piece keeps time with two opposing counting systems. A voice counts backwards from 1200 (number of days the average person lived with AIDS based on a 1996 study) while the images count forward.

Mixed media with audio: 8×10 inch picture frame, 2 speakers, wood table, shelf, motor, fan, film, lens, mirrors, steel, vinyl record, velvet, audio tape, walkman tape player, 40 × 36 × 60 inches.
